Why This Matters

Over half of the first responders who took On the Job and Off’s courses stated that they felt their previous mental health training was inadequate. On the Job and Off is looking to partner with departments in order to fill that gap.

The majority of first responders who took On the Job and Off’s courses stated that they have experienced negative mental health symptoms. With these effects being so prevalent, we believe it is critical to provide prevention-focused education on a department level.

One in three first responders who took On the Job and Off’s courses stated that their mental health has had an impact on their ability to do their job. With first responders being responsible for such critical work, we encourage departments to take a proactive stance by providing additional supportive education and resources.

The majority of first responders who took On the Job and Off’s courses stated that their job has a significant effect on their mental health. The fact is that the day-to-day work of being a first responder can be both a tax on and a support to a person’s mental health. Our goal is to minimize the negative effects while promoting the positive effects through our online education.
