On the Job and Off has provided keynote presentations, workshops, and break-out groups nationwide in time frames ranging from one to four hours. We cover topics including mental health education, suicide prevention, sexual harassment prevention, trauma-informed leadership, and cultural issues in the emergency services.

As the lead instructor for On the Job and Off, Ali Rothrock draws on her education (AA in Fire Science, BS in Psychology) and her unique experience as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician to design and deliver mental health courses that put first responders first.
In addition to serving as a certified QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor through the QPR Institute, Ali supports the first responder community as a member of the Cumberland County (PA) Critical Incident Stress Management Team, as a Certified Trauma Responder through the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists, and as a behavioral health specialist with the Medical Reserve Corps.
Ali is also a speaker and author whose TED Talk “Resilience is an Act of Rebellion” has been viewed thousands of times and whose book After Trauma: Lessons on Overcoming from a First Responder Turned Crisis Counselor will be published by Broadleaf Books in April of 2022. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband.
